There are no emergencies or emergency communications in effect for the UC Berkeley campus. If an emergency occurs, the latest information will be posted here and on Berkeley News.

If there is an emergency

The campus emergency sirens are tested at noon on the first Wednesday of each month. At all other times, when you hear the sirens you should:

  • Shelter in place
  • Shut doors and windows
  • Seek instructions and information

During an emergency, there are several ways to find the latest information.

  • Radio: campus radio station KALX (90.7 FM); City of Berkeley emergency broadcast station: 1610 AM; Regional news: KCBS (740 AM)

Information about preparing for a campus emergency is available from the Office of Emergency Management. In a major campus emergency, information, assistance and resources will be coordinated at designated emergency management areas (EMAs) shown on this map. For more information about other Emergency Management Areas that are off-campus, contact the Office of Emergency Management. The current status of campus computer systems also is available.
